Hi beautiful four legged furry friends,

Just a quick note to let you all know that we are fine - just slack I say.

BUT I shouldn't be too hard on the "old mama", she has been doing ths flu & work thing or was that work & flu ??

I can't remember. All I know is that we haven't had as many outings as I would like.

Here is a very belated thank you to Huskee & Baby for their wonderful thank you gift following their wedding.

Thank you all so much for your well wishes - it has worked !!
Mama says she now has a great new job in the company that she works for & it is far away from that "Dark Lord & his evil henchmen" !!!

So tomorrow is a new begining. That has to mean the treats will be in plentiful supply again YAY !!
I was so happy I went & dug a hole & played with bumble bee :-)

So sorry my beautiful & patient friends,

Mama has not done MY blog coz she's been pre-occupied with something called keeping her job after a company re-org - not sure what that all means, but she seems to be saying to us that the treats are limited until there is certantity about job future - something about the merge putting her under some 'dark -lord' who is an a-hole & only likes 'yes men' & yep that requires the anatomical appendage !
My hugs are only so big because I'm so little, so I'm sure she would draw strength from your virtual hugs - you have all been so wonderful - that we feel it already!!

Mama has been grouchy so I daren't nag her about MY blog - but have convinced her let you all know that the fabulous Boy & Baby & Huskee have surprised us with amasing presents, that cheered us up so much !!!!

The guesses were right - the previous picture is a tangle of sleeping whippet legs.

After grooming this is what I looked like. Hmmph too much stinky stuff on me - I'm not impressed.

Billy-Bob is demon possesed after the groomer put girly bows in his hair again !!

What makes it worse is that Leo is laughing his head off.

Hi my lovely friends,

Gaucho has a competition for best sleeping pictures.

Here is my latest favorite spot.

I don't like being disturbed, so mum would you get that camera out of my face !!!

That big puppy Leo sure has grown - here he is at 7 months. He can't even fit on the big bed any more.

Hee hee there were lots of fun suggestions about what mum was cooking in the sink. I liked witches brew the best coz sometimes she can turn into a real witch - hee hee hee. Lucky she doesn't read my blog otherwise I might not get any dinner tonight :-)

Thanks Everdoggie, I'm so much better no more sore eyes.

I'm upto my old tricks of de-stuffing my stuffy toy. Mum bought this stuffy ball thinking that I wouldn't be able to work out how to de-stuff it.

I must admit that it took about a month but I got it .... hee hee hee :-)

Here's a video of me in action. Have a look in the top left corner - Leo is watching. I am a good teacher. It wont be long till the giant puppy learns the joy of de-stuffing !!!!! :)

This explains why we haven't posted for awhile, but we have been thinking of you all and really enjoyed reading the messages you left us.

Look at this I've got a new little brother.

His name is Leonardo & he turned up with mum one night a few weeks ago. He's a puppy so he's a bit active & loopey for my liking, but he leaves me alone when I ask him.

Leo is called an Anatolian Shepherd & will grow really big and look after us all - so my little brother will actually be my big brother. Honey's pleased because she now has a willing participant to play 'bitey face' & Leo enjoys hanging off her collar :)

It's my 7th Barkday

Hello my Doggies and Hamsterriers,

On Tuesday 2nd October it's my 7th Barkday :)

I'm an older gent than some of you may have thought because I'm such a sprightly handsome Romeo !!!
Here's a little of my story.

I came here to the 'Hounds on the Hill" house when I was 5 yo at the end of Sept 2005. My leg had been operated on & so I was a bit sore & sad - thats why nobody wanted me till I met & charmed the pants of mummy.

I soon cheered up coz now I get to go on car rides

And lots of walks and swims with my pack (Bella, Kuki & Honey)

And have lots of fun, laughing all the timeI get to cuddle with my new pack (housemates) !!I get to chew on bully sticks
And now I'm one of the most handsomest doggies on DWB even able to challenge Boo Casanova for the ladies as the irrestible Billy-Bob Romeo.

Thanks to all the Dogs & GG who were concerned about how I got into jail following Simba's Pawty.

I was walking home after the pawty and was picked up for being "Dawg & Disorderly"!!

Apparently some of the good folks didn't like my lovely singing - la la la laaaaaa, woo woo wooo wooooff.........

Chiyo recently posted that the she was feeling Smurf. That confused me because this is what I remember smurfs to be

I had a great fun time at Simba's Bond 007 Housewarming Pawty.

I danced the whole evening long.

Thankfully mum was there before too long and got me out.

Hi Pups & GG,

This is Honey, who used to be called Zuza, but mama had trouble remembering and pronouncing that, so Honey it is.
Honey is a 1 yo female Whippet, who needed to be rehomed as she had been living with some daschunds with delicate backs and that didn't work out.So we are really pleased to have her join our pack. Honey has been settling in really well and loves snuggling on the sofa. Honey is still learning the doggy-door but we are getting there.
My exciting news is that I have been on an adventure thanks to Gaucho - go check it out.

Boo C will be judging the Boo-llywood Princess contest & winner to be announced soon. See post below for entries.

Charlie whilst being a generally sweet natured dog and quite a fun, goofy character, has been re-homed to a more suitable home. He accepted other dogs being around but didn't really interact with them, prefering just his humans. It still surprises me that although a pack animal, there are some dogs that prefer it without other dogs.

There's a new contest in town now that Simba is back.

The challenge is to create a picture of Boo as the most bootiful Bollywood princess you can imagine.

Think of the fabulous settings, photoshop not required - you wanna draw, paint, collage, mixed media, then photograph or scan to post on you blog no problem.

Contest open to all & will run to the end of July.

The judge will be non-other than the Boollywood Cassanova Princess.

Back from the groomers

Hi everydog & GG,

Thanks for all you kind and thoughtful words on Scooby. We miss him but know that we have done the right thing in getting him back to his home.

Billy Bob & I went to the groomers and I am growing a Top Knot !!! Yay I'm so happy coz I'll look so pretty & be able to wear different coloured bows.

I might not look so happy , but that is because mama sat me up on the table & I was wondering why??

Billy Bob got bows in his hair again & was not impressed - he said "awe mum the other guys will tease me". Mama said "But you look so cuuute!!"

It so not kewl said Billy Bob & poked his tongue out!!

Billy Bob then went into crazy dog mode & rolled around rubbing his head on the cushions to get the bows out!

Heehee hee Billy Bob can be so funny.

Oh No - Goodbye & goodluck Scooby

Hi Pups & GirlGirl,

You wouldn't believe what happened.

Mama rang Central Animal Records (CAR) to finally update Scooby's microchip details, only to be told that he had a registered owner who had reported him missing/stolen.

Oh no how could that be !!

By law here in Australia CAR is required to provide name and phone number of the person with the dog to the person who is the registered owner. Scoobys owner called mama staright away and said he wanted to come & collect Scooby asap, because he had a break-in at his place and his 3 dogs (Scooby was one) was either stolen or escaped because the fence was cut.

So sad but no choice but to return Scooby to his registered owner after he had been with us for 2 months and was finally settling in !!

We still don't know exactly how Scooby came to the private rescue person, but have since been told that some people opearate as rescue groups and re-home dogs illegally because they don't like how the dogs are being kept.

Scoobys registerd owner had pictures of Scooby who he had since he was a puppy and Scooby looked in very fit condition and is a naturally lean dog. Also when Scooby re-met his owner he obvious had a positive realtionship with him - so as much as we just want him to stay with us mama think what if that happened to one of us - we would want to come home.

So although we miss Scooby lots - at least we had some time with him and played a part in getting him back home.

Scoobys owner is now talking to the police about bringing charges to the 'bogus' rescue group.

The case of the exploding chair - Caught Red Pawed

Pups & GirlGirl,

I have been investigating the case of the exploding chair. Mama put me onto the case because it definitely wasn't me as I had slept on mama's bed that night.

I went undercover and look what I saw. It was Billy-Bob !!!

I have the evidence.

I caught him Red-Pawed.

He claimed he was framed. BUT look closely there is foam stuck to his chiny-win-win.

Bella's Mum - Pups and GG actually I think it was probably started by the big guy Scooby, but then they all joined in. It is an old chair and really only used by the dogs - mostly Kuki, so no real harm done. BUT I sure wont be buying a good sofa till the chewing has stopped!!

Visit to the park - first Video

Well we didn't get to the beach because it was raining & cold this morning. it was looking like a boring day at home. But then the sky lifted & the sun broke through for a bit so we went to a new park that we hadn't been to before & it was great. I got to chase the ball which I love & everyone got to run around & let off steam !!

Hi Doggies,

Mama got a new compact digital camera to replace the one that Scooby chewed up & it's she thinks it's really kewl - but it still pokes the light in my face when i'm trying to rest or sleep!!! I've learn't to just put up with it because if I move around - I only get more blinking light in my face.

This weekend is a long weekend in Australia - there is a public holiday on Monday to celebrate the Queens Birthday. I'm not really sure why they celebrate the English Queens birthday - coz she doesn't even live here - something about history!

But hey I don't mind coz it means extra time with mummy coz she doesn't have to go to work & I heard her mention that we might even go to the beach on Monday - woo hoo I lurve the beach & Scooby has never been.

Million Paws Walk

Hi everydoggie,

We went to the Million Paws Walk this last Sunday & it was fantastic. It's the premier event on the dogggy social calendar.

It's an annual event to raise money for the RSPCA & it held in many locations around Australia. We went to our local event in Melbourne & walked the 5km's around Albert park Lake. More than 16,000 people walked at 13 locations across Victoria this year. http://www.rspcavic.org/events/events_million_paws_walk.htm

Uncle Stephen came along to help mummy handle the four of us which is quite a challenge in a crowd. Stephen's wife Catherine (who is in the USA at the moment) would like a doggy, but he's not so sure, so we were on our bestest behaviour working the doggy charm.

Catherine - we think we may have made some progress !!

Stephen you are a nutural with the dogs !!

We meet heaps of other doggies and they were all so nice well behaved - no fights at all.

Kobe, who we are now re-naming to Scooby, met a few other great danes & seemed to enjoy being able to meet them at face level.

I of course was very popular & was in high demand for pats & cuddles.

Kuki had her PJ's on as it cooled down after we walked & lots of folks thought she looked very warm & snuggly.

Billy Bob continued to amuse people with his antics & the funny faces he pulls.

Someone even came with their pet pig !!

And we saw a Kelpie (Australian Sheep Herding dog) puppy who had already learnt to herd ducks - very clever.

The next couple of pics are for our friend Danny who might like to get an English Bulldog to join his family - you don't see them so often in Melbourne & for comparison a picture of a staffy.

Chiyo - we haven't forgotten about the 'Tag' & belly shots - I have been very tricksy with mummy & everytime she tries to sneak up on me with the camera I roll over - hee hee hee!!! This is the closest she has gotten so far.

Looking for ideas

Hi friends,
I'm looking for some ideas to help with Kobe, who is a really keen chewer. The list of 'out of bounds' items that he has chewed & destroyed is growing.

Check out the foam explosion in the back garden.

Sweet Kobe is a fun & friendly young guy - now about 1 year old - so still a pup & thus prone to chewing & other puppy 'outbursts'.

Kobe goes for a regular morning 30-40min walks, has lots of toys, treat balls & bones twice a week and 3 doggy pals to keep him happy, but still the destruction continues.

So I'm really keen to hear your thoughts & ideas on how to help Kobe & me through this period of his life & perhaps curb the chewing destruction. What could be separation anxiety, excess energy, boredom etc.

Here's the list of his major 'conquests' to date:
- Table lamp cord
- Lap top power cord & adaptor
- Several dog beds

- sofa cushions & seats

He's getting on great with the girls

Kuki has claimed him as a snuggle-buddy

I'm happy enough to share that same couch with him, but not quite upto snuggling yet.

Well still being a puppy he does have 'bursts' of energy that have turned to destruction.

Hippo Toy Story

There's this new guy Kobe - a youngin (about 11 months) that we first met when we were out walking.

But mummy had arranged that unbeknownst to us, beforehand to see whether we might get along!

He needs a new home coz his hooman parents have split & neither wants him (how could that be possible)

So before you know it our 'bleeding heart' mama agreed to take him in for a week for a trial to see if we could all get along & meet his puppy energy needs.

Kobe is an 11 month old great dane x greyhound he's friendly, goofy & still learning how big he is - a typical puppy - but he does lie down to play with us little ones which is very nice & seems really responsive to training & learning good manners.

But that's all the behaviour mumbo jumba - from my point of view he's all right (I remain reserved) but he has a fun attitude & likes to play & looks quite pretty (hmm should I say handsome) & is very gentle almost wary around us little ones.

Might be okay - I'll have to see if I can get him to bark at the possums for me coz so far he hasn't really barked at all?

Kuki's 4th Birthday !!

Kuki turned four today and she has spent two and a half of those with us !!!

Easter at the Grandparents

We went to grandma & grandpa's for Easter Sunday - had a yummy meal & time - But no choccie for the doggies. Billy Bob doesn't seem very happy about that does he?

We got to play with our new cousin Elly May a female Chi cross 1-2 years old and with our old cousin Marty a 14 year old kelpie cross.

I'm calling them our cousins - but maybe they are our Aunite & Uncle coz they are our mummy's parents fur babies? What do you think?

We all get along nicely, but I managed to sneak out and have a good chew on Elly May's bone - I don't think she was too i mpressed with that - so she then went off to hide/bury it.

Meanwhile Kuki tried to curl up in EllyMay's little bed & pretend she was one of the toys!!!

Hope all of you who have holiday (more hooman) time at this time of year really enjoyed it.

Mummy has been sick with a nasty cold, so we've only had the one outing.

But it's ok coz we've had fun stealing tissues to shred them (one of my favorites) and lots of snuggle time when she's been resting।

My day at the Office !!

I went to help mummy & her collegues out at the office yesterday. The day before Easter holidays is a bit more relaxed & finishes early so I got to go to work - woo hoo.

Mummy we like to take us all one at a time but i'm the only one small enough to smuggle in past the building security in my special doggie tote & I stay really really quite.

Here I am helping mummy answer all those e-mails.

Then we went to visit Julie who loves me & was so pleased to see me we played for a bit before I helped her.

Auntie Debbie who sits next to mummy & couldn't bring her little girl in let me help her answer all those phone calls।

Next was Danny who's partner wants a doggie, but Danny isn't so sure. I won him over with my charm & so now he thinks maybe a doggie wouldn't be so bad after all।

Finally Damian was so busy that I helped him out by taking all his calls.

Back to mummy's desk to wrap things up for the holidays & then home.

Whew it was such a busy day - I had lots to tell Kuki & Billy Bob when I got home, then I found a comfy spot to rest I was soooo tired

It started so good, but ended the worst

It's a really upsetting post this time we're so sad & upset.

It's been an awful few days.

Reuben is no longer with us.

We are all traumatized and hurting inside & out.

This is how it started really great - a beautiful sunny Autumn Sunday - perfect for a walk by the river.

We were having a great time we went to an isolated spot where we could go of leash for a bit & have a swim & play by the rivers edge.

Such a peaceful setting & outing - we were all loving it.

It then turned into a nightmare shortly after these pictures were taken.

Without any provocation from this little JackRussel type dog a switch went off in Reubens head & he went into 'kill mode'.

He lunged at & got the poor dog by the neck/shoulders & would not release।

Mummy & the other dogs owner fought with him to get the little dog free, hitting, earpulling, eye-gouging anything they could think of & in all the struggles mummy put her hand in Reubs mouth to dig her nails into the roof of his mouth to try to make him release - but even that didn't work - mummy just ended up hurting her hand.

Finally some other people came to the rescue & were able to get the little dog free & restrain Reuben who had slipped his collar.

We were all so traumatised & shaken up it took a while before mummy could get to her feet again.

She went with one of the helping people to find the lady & her little dog to find out how it was & give her our contact number, but the lady had already left, probably to get to a vet asap, which is what mummy said she would do too if it happened to one of us.

Us little ones were frightened, but otherwise unhurt as we stayed well out of the way.

Some kind people helped mummy round us up to get back to the car. We have called all the major animal emergency centres trying to find out about the dog but to no avail, we pray that it survived, but it was really badly hurt. Mummy keeps thinking poor lady & wishes she could get in touch some how, she keeps thinking how distraught she would be if something like that ever happened to us little ones.

Reuben was a 5-6yo Mastiff cross rescue dog who had been with us since mid November 2006.

He got along fine with us little ones right from the start & we never had any problem with him.

He was alays very respectful of mummy, he would sit & wait to be give the ok to eat his diner, mummy could take his bones off him with no problem, if he was in her way she would ask him to move & he would jump up & move out of the way immediately.

But when out walking he really didn't like any other dogs at & would lunge at them।

So mummy took him to lots of training & even took him to a one week in-house special training kennel to get his dog agression under control and that seemed to have been working.

But sadly, with his unknow history, age, size, strength, extreme level of dog agression, his guarding instincts, his misinterpretation of threat & appropriate response, the split second shift into red zone (attack mode), all result in Reubs being highly unreliable and deemed to be a dangerous dog and unsafe.

It was with a very heavy heart and following many discussions with the rescue organisation, the trainers & vet, that mummy had to take Reuben to the vet to be euthanized. She has cried & cried that any of this could have happened because she is about helping and saving animals not putting them in danger nor ending their lives.

We really miss Reubs and will always remember him fondly for the wonderful loving huggy bear of a dog tht he was with us at home.

Rest peacefully now our darling Loving memories Bella, Billy Bob, Kuki & our mum.

Billy Bob completely playing up to the camera for mummy. We 'real' dogs don't do that do we?

It's just not right I'm the cute one !!!

But he seems to have managed to 'work the angles' and arghhh I hate to say it but is almost reaching my cuteness factor.

He's even kissing up to Kuki - what a schmoozer!!

I will have to keep a careful watch on him !! My position as number one cutie is not up for grabs!!!

We went to a School Fair

I had such a fun day on Saturday !!!!

Mama's hooman niece & nephew don't have their own doggies so we have adopted them as our girl & boy !

The girl just started school this year & this was the first school fair, so Billy-Bob & me went along to help out।

I took her to the fun doggie show & won prizes, then Billy-Bob took the boy around too & he won a prize।

We were so good and everyone was so happy।

Note my costume change !!!

We got lots of treats & cuddles।

We were so tired that we both fell asleep on the couch & were snoring in no time flat.

Friends you wouldn't believe what happened the other night !

Reuben had been outside in the garden 'talking' to the possums. Telling them they better keep out of our trees & don't dare think of coming down.

Mummy asked him to be quite twice, and he was for a bit, but third time she said that's enough you come inside now for a break.

But Mummy was a bit slack & instead of blocking off the doggy door properly she just pulled the sliding glass door in front of it.

Well Billy-Bob went out the little dog door (yes there are two) and he found something that needed barking at and Reubs was on the alert straight away and charged at his doggy door not seeing the glass !!!!
OOOpps crash - what was that noise we ll wondered ?

Reuben had smashed straight into the glass door & it's big & heavy!

Lucky his has a big block head & is fine, but he sure was surprised!!!!!

- and nowthe door needs replacing - silly mummy !!

Mummy & me found this picture that pretty well sums it up for us.

I'm brave though & try to help Kuki out by showing her that it's ok by going first & getting the pats & treats.

Thought some of my other puppy pals might be able to relate.

As you can see Kuki much prefers hiding behind the cats. I think she thinks if she snuggles in there no one will notice that she's not a cat.

My buddy Reuben

Been meaning to tell more about Reubs.

He's fast becoming my best mate.

When I do the rounds of the garden & find something I'm not sure about & give a little bark, Reubs is right there backing me up. He makes the outsiders be they birds, possums, cats or neighbours, pay good attention with his deep woof.

Check him out in the back door way not much can get past him

We really enjoy taking on the patrol duties together - not like Kuki & Billy Bob who seem pretty happy to leave it up to us unless we put out the emergency call as opposed to the warning woof.

Here's some other pic's of Reubs - he thought he try & curl up on the sofa chair like us little one do, but as you can see that wasn't quite so comfortable for him !!

Also mum has said that the sofa is ok for little ones but not for the big boy & Reubs being the good nature hound that he is, now prefers stretch out on his own special bed & the fluffy rugs on the floor.

Just to get some idea of his size Reuby-Roo is about 74cm at the shoulder & weights about 55kg.

He has pretty big paws - have a look at the size of his paws by mummy's feet.

And mummy is not small either - she's about 170cm -tall, not wide !

It's good that Reubear is my good mate coz his head is about the same size as me & I only weigh about 3.5kg !!

Hi there,

This week has been so hot I was sending mind messages to mum to leave the aircon on when she goes out but it doesn't seem to have worked.

The last weekend it was 38 degrees centigrade both days & on the Saturday mummy went off early to something called grape grazing festival which I wasn't invited to - so it can't have been that good. It was soooo hot thanks goodness mummy filled up our wading pool before she left - so while mama was away we were able to play, drink, splash & rest in the water, then run on through our doggy door into the house to 'shake-off'. Mummy was so pleased with the 'tracks' we made in the back room when she return that she screamed with delight & satisfied with my work I then took a nap.

Billy-Bob is a multi-talented pooche with many faces - here are some of them -

He may not look so perfect on the outside - but he's a special boy completely devoted to us - you know those rag dog cats - well BB is like a rag doll dog !!!

The rest of the siblings

Hello again - about time I introduced the rest of 'my' gang.

So after me there came Kuki (Kuki-ma, Kuki-yama)- a little whippet girl about 2 years old who was so scared when she arrived - she had been one of 20 whippets of an old breeder who passed away. She'd had it pretty rough in the kennel and had never lived inside - Can you imagine!!
I quickly showed her the ropes & she is now the master at finding the snuggliest most comfortable, warm place to curl up.

Then came Billy-Bob (Silly Billy, Bilby) whos about five. He'd been at the pound for too long & his time was almost up (ugh I don't even wanna know what happens then !!!) coz people coudn't see past his ugly face & didn't want to pay for the surgery that was needed to fix his knee.
A friend of mummy's who worked there rang to see if we couldn't squeeze him into the household as he really isn't that big & wouldn't be a bother. Mum's a bit of a push-over really !!

Finally there's the big guy Reuben (ReuBear, Reubs) & I mean really big. Like his head is as big as me !!! I weigh about 3.5 kg's & he weighs 55kg - whata big heffa !!

We moved to our own house & had a much bigger garden so when another doggy rescue group told mum how hard it was to rehome big older dogs & perhaps now with more space she might be able to foster some occasionally till they go to their forever homes. Mum thought that sounded good and that's how the 5 year old Reubs came to live with us. At first I was a bit in awe of how big he is but I soon figured out that he's no problem - a bit of a softy really. And I'm so clever I've figured out how to get him to do what I want. So if I decide that something out in the garden or over the fence needs a 'speaking-to' I do a little bark & then Reub's is right there to back me up & really gives them a talking to. Ain't no-body gonna mess with me now !!!

Though I pretty much run things here, I do have to share my place with four other fur friends.

When I got here 5 years ago, there was a cat called Chloe already n residence. She's really old, like ancient I think in the "two-leggers" years she's like 13 or something.

Chloe is ok - but I keep her on her toes by running after her every now & then. She pretty much keeps to herself these days & spends most of her time sleeping in her own room - can you believe that - she has her own room AND there's this gate thing that stops me from getting in & munching on the tasty treats she leaves in her litter box - that's not litter to me - it's a treat box !! But mum doesn't share my taste & thinks it's yuk !!!

Gotta go I hear possums outside now so time to go sort them out !!

Well hello there aren't I just the cutest little princess you've ever seen?
My mum thinks so & boy do I have her wrapped around my little paw when I put on my best 'cute as a button' face. I guess that's why one of my nick names is "Bella Buttons" !
